About The Founder – Mr Manoj Kaushal

Our founder, Mr. Manoj Kaushal, was born in the family of Mr. Hans Raj Shashtri, a retired Shashtri Teacher from Himachal Pradesh Government on 8th August 1981. He was blessed with bad omens since his birth as his maternal uncle died on

the same day of his birth. His mother side-lined him assuming him to be the cause of his maternal uncle’s death and was brought up by his maternal grandmother. Since, he was neglected and felt lonely, very soon, i.e., at the age of 11, he started smoking, under the influence of his family seniors. He tasted his first drink at the age of 12 and was addicted to Marijuana (Charas) at the age of 14. Apart from the above, he was also into chewing Gutka, eating Zarda, Pan Masala and so, but, the only good quality that kept him going was that he was a good sportsman & played for his School’s Cricket Team as well as Boxing. By the time, he completed his Plus 2; he was a complete addict who had tried all types of available drugs.

When things were not changing at all despite of him being admitted to College, his family sent him to Bangalore with a thought that distance and change in the atmosphere might eliminate his bad habits and give him a ritual path. But, he came back empty handed from there also with a broken leg, again, which was due to his addiction. He had his same leg broken three different times because of drug related accidents. During the last 4 years of his substance abuse, he had become an IV (Intravenous) user and there was no point in his body left where he hadn’t injected or tried injecting. Finally, after all their futile efforts, his parents admitted him to a Rehabilitation Centre where he recovered and worked with the same centre for 4 years.

Later on, as his life flashed in front of him and upon realization, he founded Kirpa Foundation to help other suffering addicts.
